Week 1 Day 5 Matthew 1: 18

December 4, 2014
Light the first purple candle. This candle represents Hope. We can have Hope because God is with us and is Faithful to keep His promises He made to us.

Romans 15:12-13 (ASV)
12. And again, Isaiah saith, There shall be the root of Jesse, And he that ariseth to rule over the Gentiles; on him shall the Gentiles hope.
13. Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

This candle is also the "Prophecy" Candle. The Prophecy Candle represents the prophets who foretold the birth of Jesus.

Matthew 1:18 (King James)
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
